London office building boosts regions

London may dominate the British economy, but office construction in the capital (London) is swelling the country's regional markets by £1.1 billion a year.

These are the findings of a report by PwC and London First, assesing the economic impact of developments in Central London on the rest of Britain.

It said that 22,400 jobs a year in the regions were supported by the development of skyscrapers such as the "Walkie Talkie" (20 Fenchurch Street) and the "Cheesegrater" (122 Leadenhall Street) and large office blocks in areas such as King's Cross.

Chippy note; There are many positives in this report from PwC and the full article in todays "Times", hope springs eternal that the "ripple" effect continues to benefit all areas of the construction industry throughout the whole of the UK.
