Interior Double Doors - Pairmaker

A pairmaker joins two single doors to create a double door, helping to ensure smooth operation and allowing the doors to open in your chosen direction. The selection of doors in this collection is extensive, including standard, traditional, and modern industrial-style black double doors

Most of our lifestyle images show a pair of handles on both doors, some handles are "unspung" and rely on the lock/latch mechanism to keep the lever part of the handle level, please do not attempt to fit any unsprung handle to the "slave" door at any time.

"It takes two"

These are two individual doors put together as a pair for image purposes and as a guide to provide you with what you cannot get from the range of standard size double doors, we cannot guarantee that the veneers and colour will be an exact match but every care will be taken to provide you with the closest match possible.

All door pair sizes are "overall" for the pair, they are not for each door leaf, we cannot stress highly enough that the sizes are for both halfs.

These doors are available Panelled Door Pairs, Flush Door Pairs and Glazed Door Pairs in Beech, Oak, Walnut or White Primed and are just part of our new in-house creations.

A stunning range of pair maker double doors using the pair maker jointing strip (or not) and designed to offer a wide selection where we have shown the sizes and styles that can be achieved by simply putting two doors together to form a pair.

Please be aware that we may use narrower doors for some sizes of this product whether panelled or glazed, they may have narrower panels or glass than the image shown, this is because the timber sections that make up the doors construction remain the same size across the full range of door sizes.

If you choose a door along with a Pairmaker (sold separately and available in the Add-Options section below the product images), you can decide whether the doors open towards you or away from you, as well as which door – left or right – opens first. The images provided are there to help you visualise the options. However, care should be taken when pairing two doors to ensure that features such as glass panels align correctly and appear as intended.

Range:

This range of doors is varied and is sourced from several of the UK's leading door suppliers to provide our customers with unrivalled choice when looking at installing a pair of doors within their home, the pair maker double doors vary from prefinished to unfinished and in several different veneers or white primed, the prefinished doors need only be fitted, no further decoration is required other than to the pair maker component should you choose to fit one.

The veneers have all been sourced as much as is possible from sustainable resources throughout the world and the core of the doors are generally a solid or composite-solid construction, the whole point of supplying double doors in this way is to reflect current trends for environmentally friendly use of the world's natural resources and at the same time provide consistently high quality products that are very stable in modern centrally heated homes.

Sizes:

The sizes available vary from door to door but include 1066mm, 1220mm, 1372mm, 1524mm, 1676mm, 1252mm 1452mm, 1652mm and 1852mm, these are tight sizes without any clearance allowed but by adding the separately supplied pair maker rebate component you can add to these sizes by 12mm, a great range of double doors.

What is Rebating:

Rebating, the word "rebate" in joinery terms relates to allowing the two doors which form a pair to overlap where the meeting rails of the doors join when closed, you can also choose to add the rebate if you have the correct space within your frame where the doors will be fitted, this range offers a "pair maker" (in the Add-Options) from our Joinery section within this site and adding this to the doors where they will meet in the middle will add the 12mm as mentioned above.

The door pairs can be fitted with or without the extra "pair maker" (not included) planted rebate for site fixing, using the pair maker adds 12mm to the "tight" sizes listed and not using it means that the doors will just "butt" together where they meet, the doors can open away or towards you and with the left or the right hand as the slave door, this "pair maker" item may need cut to height and is supplied without decoration, the 40mm thick metric sized doors in white or Walnut will have an oak pair maker component which will require decoration.

Just one other thing to note about the Pair maker range, we can advise on how and when to put two doors together in this way but you are not limited by what we have on the DirectDoors.com site, you are only limited by your own imagination, go on....lead don't follow!

Not all doors have a Paint N Peel facility for ease of decoration where required, call 01968 671681 for any clarification or assistance.

Please do not arrange any tradesman until the goods have arrived, been checked over for damages and are suitable for installation as you intended, courier delays due to illness, traffic issues or product damages can also impact on your arrangements. Wood products will have a naturally occurring grain, this will vary regardless of veneer type, this is the beauty of wood. We cannot be held liable for any consequential costs should you arrange an early installation or whether the courier is delayed and lastly if the grain is wavy / straight and not to your liking.
