The issue of recycling has become an important one when you consider having new replacement energy efficient double glazing doors and windows in your home, it can be a worry as to what happens to your old doors & windows.

Thankfully there is good news as many installers, joiners and double glazing companies now collect the frames and glass from your old doors & windows so that they can be sent to specialist recycling companies.
The use of these recycling companies working in conjuction with maintenance, renewal and installers is to ensure that the old door/window frames do not end up in landfill sites, glass for example can be recycled and to be fair to the building industry old glass, new cuttings (offcuts) etc have been use for as long as I can remember and certainly well before the use of the "R" word was popular, the old glass was known as "cullet" and continues to be collected....only more so.
If you chose a company that offers this recycling service you don’t have to worry about this happening as the materials from your old products will be recycled and made in to new PVC products or even to produce new windows.
The removal of timber may mean that it's entirely possible that this material will be used to heat the factory where the new frames are produced, lots of old timber is made in to small briquettes for heating pruposes or you may be able to pass the doors on to a company that can restore them and sell them on but don't expect anything for them in cash terms, this will prevent them being wasted.
It is refreshing to know that the recycling of your old windows prevents the valuable materials being lost to landfill sites and also reduces the amount of raw materials being used up, being green won't make you blue.
