What is fresco?
It is
a painting done rapidly in watercolour on wet plaster on a wall or ceiling, so that the colours penetrate the plaster and become fixed as it dries,
used in Roman times and by the great masters of the Italian Renaissance including Giotto, Raphael, and Michelangelo.
This technique name evolved in to description of any painting on the door, walls or celling showing landscapes, people or genre scenes, where any paint techniques may be used.
Here we have a beautiful example of the painted door found in Roussillon, Vaucluse France.
