What are panel doors?

There are numerous types of wooden panel doors, some are unfinished and others are prefinished, there are internal oak doors, mahogany panel doors, pine panel doors and white panel doors within various other sections throughout this site.

An internal panel door is any door consisting of either a single panel and up to 6 panels per door, the panels can be flat which in most people's eyes are viewed as "Contemporary Panel Doors" or they may have what is known as "raised and fielded panels", this type of panel has what is best described as a "bevelled" edge surrounding a slightly raised centre panel section which all helps to give the panel a feeling of depth.

There are many other doors that are classed as flush panel doors, these are doors that are exactly that, flush to the touch, but these doors may have grooves or inlaid veneers to give the perception of a panel or panels, they are not a lesser quality door they are simply a variation and are extremely popular as they are virtually always supplied as prefinished with no further decoration being required.

Panel Door Construction and the use of veneers:

Our Internal Oak Panel Doors, Pine Panel Doors and Mahogany Panel Doors are over veneered on a heavy duty core or a composite core and are available in a variety of configurations, the use of this type of construction is not to allow the doors to be looked at as inferior more so it is so that the doors are more stable when fitted in a modern centrally heated home and it always allows the best use of the world's natural resources.

Dowel door joints or mortice and tenon joints

Virtually all timber doors, including internal Walnut Panel Doors, are constructed using dowel joints, this system has been in use for as many years as I can remember and provides for a very efficient construction method, each dowel is "splined" so that the area that will be glued during the construction equates to the more traditional mortice and tenon type joints. All internal panel doors are supplied un-finished unless stated otherwise.

There is a large enough range to supply an ideal door for any setting. Whether you are looking for a contemporary panel doors or a traditional panel door look to your décor, either can be supplied by one of our interior panel doors. There are other benefits to be had that can come from the selection of suitable internal panel doors such as a reduction in heating costs and noise reduction.

Our vast range of internal White Primed Panel Doors, which can be supplied as solid panels or with glass, is second to none. We also manufacture all types of internal doors to customers specifications should the standard doors not be to your taste or budget.

Please note that “Bespoke/made to measure” doors are mainly constructed to your specifications in solid one piece timber sections and orders cannot be refunded after ordering.

Please do not arrange any tradesman until the goods have arrived, been checked over for damages and are suitable for installation as you intended, courier delays due to illness, traffic issues or product damages can also impact on your arrangements. Wood products will have a naturally occurring grain, this will vary regardless of veneer type, this is the beauty of wood. We cannot be held liable for any consequential costs should you arrange an early installation or whether the courier is delayed and lastly if the grain is wavy / straight and not to your liking.
