Types of Pocket Doors

The right door construction ensures your pocket door system remains smooth and long-lasting in your home.

Our solid-core pocket doors deliver a heavy, high-end feel with superior durability and sound insulation. We also stock pocket door kits for a lighter, semi-solid alternative that’s easier to operate on the track.

Choose from three types of double pocket doors to suit your aesthetic and functional needs:

• Flush: Sleek and minimalist, perfect for modern interiors and bathrooms.

• Panelled: Feature grooved door panel designs that add architectural detail.

• Glazed: Fitted with various glass finishes, these pocket doors bring light into adjoining rooms while keeping them divided.

Versatile Styles

We provide a variety of practical layout choices to enhance your home’s aesthetic. Find the perfect space-saving solution for your interior:

• Double pocket doors: Two doors that slide along a track into pockets on either side of the wall for a full opening.

• Double frameless pocket doors: Offer a clean, minimalist look with systems that sit flush against plaster for a seamless finish without visible frames or architraves.

• Telescopic pocket doors: Multiple door panels slide smoothly along separate tracks, nesting into a single wall cavity to maximise floor space when open.

Standard & Bespoke Door Sizes

Most of our double pocket door kits are available in standard UK sizes, ranging from 1981 mm x 610 mm to 2040 mm x 926 mm. At Direct Doors, whatever you want, we can do it! Our bespoke expertise provides made-to-measure door solutions tailored to your exact dimensions.

Diverse Door Faces

Whether you prefer natural wood grain or a painted statement finish, our double-pocket sliding door collection provides several choices to enhance your living space:

• Choose grey or laminated surfaces to create a modern look in storage or utility rooms.

• Wooden oak or walnut veneers bring warmth and natural texture to your interior.

• Surfaces like painted or white-painted ensure bold or seamless colour matching.

• Primed finishes allow you to apply your own top coats for personalised style.

Premium Finishes

Our double sliding pocket doors come in black, grey and white, as well as custom colours to match your rooms. Want a natural look without committing to full-stained wood? Our oak-coloured veneers are your best bet!

Choose double-pocket sliding doors in our high-quality finishes to ensure a seamless, high-end look throughout your home:

• Prefinished pocket doors: Sealed, stained or painted, and ready to install.

• Unfinished pocket doors: Perfect if you want to apply your own paint, stain or lacquer for a bespoke look.

Glazing Options

Your pocket door system should provide flexibility across different rooms, creating the perfect balance of light and privacy. These glazing choices will help define your space as your doors slide along the track and into the wall:

• Clear glass-fitted doors allow maximum light to flow between connected areas.

• Frosted and obscure glass is perfect for creating privacy in bathrooms or home offices.

• Bevelled and designer glass patterns bring a decorative embellishment to your living space.

• Hybrid alternatives combine transparency with stylish, decorative patterns for added finesse.

• Reeded textures and tinted options add subtle visual variation while allowing light to pass through clearly.

Double Pocket Door FAQs

Here are some answers to common questions about our double pocket doors for sale.

What else is included in your double pocket door kits?

Our pocket double door kits come with full fitting instructions to make installation easy. The door system incorporates a galvanised steel cassette and track set with all fittings, allowing smooth sliding into the wall cavity.

Note: While doors can arrive fully decorated, the cassette system requires assembly and arrives unfinished to be built into your preformed wall aperture.

Do you have soft-close double-pocket doors?

Most of our double pocket door systems feature a soft-close mechanism to control their movement along the tracks, ensuring smooth operation. Our Ermetika Easy Stop AB twin dual soft closer is available as a kit and can be integrated into many of our pocket door systems.

As we only supply doors and don’t offer installation, the Easy-Stop AB Dual soft-close installation instructions and setup instructions we provide make fitting easy. Prefer a visual aid for your DIY project? Our video guide on installing an Easy-Stop AB Dual soft-closer shows exactly how to fit the system into the wall to maximise your space.

Note: While many systems come with soft-closer functionality, some double-pocket kits require it as an add-on. Check the individual product description to see if soft-close is included or available as an optional extra.

How do I maintain double sliding pocket doors?

Keeping your pocket door system in top shape is low maintenance. Because the hardware is tucked away, a little preventative care ensures your doors stand the test of time while maintaining their lasting style:

• Regularly vacuum the sliding track to remove dust and debris, preventing friction and keeping the movement smooth and silent.

• Lubricate the rollers every few months with a small amount of silicone-based lubricant, avoiding heavy oils to prevent dirt buildup, which can cause sticking.

• Wipe down the door faces with a damp, soft cloth, checking the seal or paint for any chips to keep the wood protected from moisture.

• Tighten hardware, ensuring handles and floor guides remain secure to prevent minor wobbles from later becoming alignment issues.
