We recommend building your pocket to match standard 100 mm (4") studwork, allowing you to run 12.5 mm plasterboard directly over the frame. Setting up this seamless 125 mm (5") finished wall provides a sturdy 79 mm internal cavity that easily supports your door’s weight and stability.
While you can add extra layers of plasterboard to increase the depth, keep in mind that this may require additional joinery items to finish the openings.
Note: Because these bespoke doors are made to your specific requirements, once ordered, they cannot be cancelled or altered.
Can pocket doors be installed in existing walls?
Yes, but it involves more than just hanging a door. To create the necessary wall cavity, you’ll usually need to remove the existing studwork or build a new false wall to house the cassette. While we supply high-quality kits, we don’t offer installation services, so we recommend sharing the cassette dimensions and technical specs with your tradesman before starting.
Here’s what to expect during installation:
Jamb kits are supplied to fit all sizes and must be cut to your specific height and width during fitting.
Doors will require a routered channel to be created in the bottom of the door to accommodate the track guide.
There’s no "left or right" hand to worry about, which means you decide the sliding direction during fitting.
The frame is designed to be hidden behind your plasterboard and architraves for a seamless look.
