  1. Find great quality doors, at the best price;

  3. And understand how to measure doors before ordering.

Our experience has been built over several decades under our belts sourcing and installing doors, we can advise you that choosing a new door will almost always be compromise between cost, quality and style, be assured, you come to the right place.

We understand that choosing a new external door is a very personal choice, but we’re here to help should you have any queries.

Right Product - Right Place:

The first thing you must bear in mind is the actual location of your new external doors. Now, this might sound fairly obvious, but have you considered just how much inclement weather the external door will encounter on a daily basis?

If you live somewhere that gets its fair share of rain, then your choice of material is very important. For instance, oak external doors should have a canopy fitted in order to provide extra cover and protection.

Ask yourself this: When was the last time you had your wooden front door decorated (that is to say, painted to protect the wood) on the top and bottom edges? Chances are it was either a very long time ago, or it’s never been done.

Decoration:

Decoration of the wood is critical to prolonging the lifespan on your external door.

We recommend that you take the time to have the new outside door decorated in full (on all faces and edges) prior to installation so as to avoid any issues further down the line.

You should also consider the fact that, even if it’s not actually raining, untreated external timber doors will still act like a sponge by drawing in the moisture in the air. This can lead to the veneer being compromised and the wood swelling and sticking on the frame.

Find it - Fit it:

On this page you’ll find over 30 categories in which to browse our huge range of external doors.

And with a selection of materials, finishes, and compatible fittings - including hinges, handles, and locks - we have something for everyone.

You have the option of choosing an unfinished door if you wish to decorate it yourself, or an external PVC or fully prefinished door if you’d rather avoid any further work once the door has been fitted.

Construction:

In this section, we’ll briefly cover some of the key features of our product range.

These days, virtually all external doors are over-veneered. But this doesn’t mean the door is inferior.

The construction methods, the inner core, the edge fitting, and the veneer lamination have all evolved over the years to produce incredibly robust and reliable doors.

And our made to measure doors are the only ones that are one piece component sections, made in the traditional manner, one at a time, with mortise and tenon joints. Meanwhile, some of our standard doors are dowel jointed, and others are morticed and tenon jointed. The difference in quality is minimal, but the price points can differ, with the dowel jointed doors looked upon as being slightly more affordable due to the speed of construction as a mass-produced item.

Our standard size external doors are available in oak and hardwood, and our made-to-measure doors are also available in a southern yellow pine.

The hardwood doors, while not as hard as the oak, are still as durable, and are likely to last as long as an oak door. This makes them the ideal choice if you’re looking for a hardwood door, but your budget won’t stretch to oak.

Fire & Fsc:

Fire safety is a primary concern for a number of our customers, and installing external fire doors can be an important requirement for landlords and business owners.

As part of our range of interior doors, we supply a small selection of half hour (FD30) and one hour (FD60) fire-rated doors.

If being green is important to you, then we can confirm which of our wooden exterior doors are FSC-certified.

This registration results in a safe chain of custody to guarantee the controlled sourcing of materials supplied in the manufacture of those doors.

If you have an eye for detail then you’ll love our range of hinges, handles, and locks to complement your new external door.

With an extensive range of items, from modern, contemporary handles to antique-style doorbells & knockers - not to mention letterboxes, draught excluders, and locks and latches - you’re bound to find the perfect finishing touch to your new door.

Measuring and Fitting Exterior Doors:

Most outside doors are available in a range of sizes, including:

1981x762mm 2085x865mm
1981x838mm 1981x915mm
2032x813mm 2135x915mm

Don't measure the existing door size, measure the space bewteen the frame legs and the sill and lintol.

Whichever external door you choose, you must make sure you fit a minimum of 3 good quality hinges, while some of the heavier oak doors would benefit from 4 hinges due to the size and weight.

    1. Tip: Try using a little bit of soap on the screw threads you’re fitting to the door. It will make the screws go in that little bit easier, and will also prevent the screws from breaking.

Please do not arrange any tradesman until the goods have arrived, been checked over for damages and are suitable for installation as you intended, courier delays due to illness, traffic issues or product damages can also impact on your arrangements. Wood products will have a naturally occurring grain, this will vary regardless of veneer type, this is the beauty of wood. We cannot be held liable for any consequential costs should you arrange an early installation or whether the courier is delayed and lastly if the grain is wavy / straight and not to your liking.
